Yaya I don' enney!

I just won a auction of a TI-85 on eBay :

Because I'm so excited to get this calc in my hands, I want to get some software queued up on my computer so I can send 'em right away.

Is there any assembly shells I should look into, and if so what are they?

Any games?
Any good TI-BASIC Programmes?
Any useful utilities?

Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

Usgard is definitely the shell to get. It offers compatibility with both its own programs and ZShell programs. As for programs, you can't really go wrong just browsing the archives at ticalc.org Very Happy

There's a cool port/clone of Boulder Dash that is super fun, that's probably my favorite game on the calc.

The 85 was my first TI calculator, so it holds a special place in my heart <3 Razz

you wanted to install linux on you Mac Mini g5 so here's a [recent] distro that supports that..
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-mate/releases/16.04/release/

Anyways, I've never used a Ti-85 so I'm glad to hear someone likes it!

how would I go about installing Usgard? the included zip file on their website is super confusing, as it has no README.md...

It seems programs for Usgard are written in string format, which is kinda weird...will this take up valuable string storage space? given that it's a 90's calc It probably doesn't have many string vars available...

Thanks for the link!

To install usgard you have to send the backup to the calculator using link software. TI-85 memory can be used by any variables (there is about 30k to go around IIRC, 32k built-in), so you don't need to worry about using up string variables/storage. You send them to the calc in the same way you send programs to the calculator. You'll probably want to only put a few games on there, as 32k fills up quickly when it comes to games. Smile
Can't get far without mentioning Phoenix!

Did you get it from here: https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/19/1919.html

You can install either the STD or LITE version - I'd recommend the STD version for a start - this is file: USGDSTD.85B

Instructions can be found here: https://www.ticalc.org/cgi-bin/zipview?85/asm/shells/usgard.zip;DOC/USGARD.TXT

I just received it two days ago, and thank я for your suggestions, Cemetech!
I have been toying around with Usgard and Shell programmes, and o' boi is Pheonix fun. I have made a few basic programmes, of which I will be adding to the forum thread on programming on limited 90's graphing calcs.

Thank я!
