Hi! Can you help me out?

I have an old TI83 Basic model and a graylink cable for it like this one :

I installed TILP2, plugged the usb-serial cable and the TILP doesn't recognize it...
The cursor on the TI stops wich seems to indicate there is some kind of comunication...
Yet it doesn't recognize it:

then

(Tried all 4 ports...)

and this is the problem in the device manager:

Help? Sad
Unfortunately that cable isn't a Graylink. True Graylink cables look like this. The cable you have is a generic serial to USB cable that has the RX/TX lines directly connected to the 2.5mm connector; calculators don't speak standard RS232 and thus the computer can't understand the protocol. Most TI cables have specialized supporting electronics that converts the calculator protocol into something the computer can understand.
In short, that cable isn't a TI link cable and won't work with calculators.

Take a look at this topic and try the steps listed in it, see if that doesn't help take care of the problem. Smile

And the above as well, the usb one is silver, didn't realize there was a picture there, didn't load for me right away.

Is what the silver link looks like.
Hi!
But I had it working in another laptop using TIconnect...
When I was transfering a file it "crashed" and never got recognized again.

I tried the suggestion above but now I don't know which kind of cable this is... and wich port it is in! :S

such a newb... :/
I never saw the first cable before when it comes to TI calcs, so it's probably not compatible. The one tifreak8x would be more appropriate. A serial cable would look like this:

Most computers nowadays lack a serial port.
