Some. I had to spend quite a bit of time adding to the redirects part of cpanel, to make sure anything searched goes to the correct page.
Indeed, indeed. You could also do it manually via .htaccess, but I suppose CPanel just automates that.

It's extraordinarily simply. Check out something like this:

You just type that into a file named ".htaccess" in any directory and it will work.
