Very much so, what with all the possible moves you need to deal with, not to mention even getting a reasonably fast GUI working.
Without AI? No. With AI? Yes. With good AI? 8th wonder of the world.
I think a reasonably fast GUI is possible in pure BASIC for a chess game.
But think about all the legal moves versues illegal moves you would need to handle... you would need pawn promotion, taking of pieces, and (oh, god) being able to see what is checkmate.
Even TicTacToe is a stretch to give it a decent AI.
AI difficulties in coding:
Matches: easy. Tic-Tac-Toe: easy-moderate. Chasing: moderate. Racing/Fighting: hard. Chess: very hard. Go: [near] impossible.
Go?

I believe it has many names, but it's the one where you have to put down circles alternating with your opponent, and the pieces in straight lines from your piece turn your color.
Go is where you try to surround you oppenent. The lines thing is Othello of Reversi and I've seen very good AI for the game on-calc.

Yeah, that's what I was describing. There are some excellent 68k versions around.
I think I've seen an 83/84+ version somewhere as well.
Perhaps this?

or maybe this:

I believe the second one is the superior program.
The second one is what I saw. Not bad I think.

Yeah, I even almost think there was a news article about it somewhere, but it couldn't have been at ticalc.org, since the file's icon isn't green.
Another Mario sidescroller. Try to port New Super Mario Bros to the 89 Ti. Cool
I don't know how much 68k we can do around here, but it would be a good idea.
Anyway, Rivereye has agreed to continue to oversee the contests, so I look forward to seeing what he comes up with.
right, I am just waiting on the subforum.
Wait no longer. It's created and permission with you as the mod.
Cool, this will be moved then.
