They certainly aren't going to get a job with any programming group if they continue getting drugged. Schools really do need better security... or parents need to do better parenting.
I'm not arguing with that... I've never smoked a cigarette in my life... or a joint, or other drugs... I've drank alcohol, but never to get drunk... (wine with dinner is acceptable to me)...

Anyway, our country has a problem... and we need to do something about it... not just bicker about how bad our friends are...

this year there is supposed to be security cameras all over the school so that they can stop the drug dealing and the smoking and all that. i think one of the problems with it is that at our school there are some teachers out there that also smoke and allow students to smoke drink and do snuff during school.

true but who cares? (thats not me speaking thats the american ppl) Divorce rates are up, parents are living on no money, who cares or even has time to watch over their children? As long as the kids don't annoy the parents and they stay out of trouble then the parents don't give a shit

Wine with dinner is acceptable in Europe. In fact, a little wine is healthy as long as you don't get drunk. Also, us younger people have to make an effort to make sure the mistakes that Thermoman pointed out don't happen to the next generation. We have to socialize with people less fortunate with us and try to show them a better way than drugs and violence.
people don't think they need help. thanks to some guys who drink to much we have the term "social drinker" and thats what the kids say they are, when in reality they sit alone at parties and drink till they feel good. I think they should want to improve themselves but they are young and don't think ahead like "how will doing drugs effect me in school, and then my college study habits", they think more about what they are watching next on tv than their future.. i really don't see a answer to this problem

I too don't drink, smoke, do drugs, etc etc. I really don't see the point of it at all; I'm perfectly happy without that stuff.
I don't like smoke, needles, or taking pills, and I don't have the urge to be drunk->I'm clean.

I'm glad my school doesn't have too big of a drug/alcohol problem (except for the pot, but most people don't talk about it/bring it to school). The only thing I don't like is the security guard we have: a fully-armed county sheriff that just sits in his office all day and pretends he's in lala land...
I cannot stand the thought of doing drugs or something like that >.< . Also, you do need to have real friends, it can get really bored otherwise too (code-code-code-bored of coding - code some more...) 5 .
See, I think that's a fairly common view throughout the ranks of people such as us. We have lots of fulfilling stuff in our lives that we enjoy, like coding and stuff, and have no need for anything enhancing.
Friends are always good to have, although, occasionally, I find it relaxing to cut myself off from the real world, and just sit in solitude working for a few hours, never accomplishing anything...

Not to mention that we actually realize how badly it can ruin our lives. I mean if you are caught or something its bad, but even without that the effect is lasting.
Were you talking about drugs when you said "enhancing" Kerm? A better word is destructive.

Schools shouldn't have to do anything unless it is happening on school grounds. None of the kids at my school have/do/drink drugs/alcohol anywhere near the school, so the problem is soley with the parents, no one else. Parents need to *gasp* start PARENTING!

Oh, and since that was all OT, RL Friends == Good Smile One of my best friends that I've known for years (since we were both like 5) has almost nothing in common with me, yet we still hange out/talk all the time. Did you ever try expanding your interests BEYOND computers? RL Friends w/ different interests can help greatly there, which is why they are good. Sometimes that peer pressure can help you find new interests (I don't mean the bad peer pressure like to do drugs, etc...)

I meant that some people see them as "enhancing" in some way. I agree that they're nothing but destructive, hence my refusal to have anything to do with them.

they are stupid and destructive, so i sit in my room all day and code or just talk on aim, i talked to 2 girls yesterday thats been like the social high point in about a month. The only time i get bored of coding is after i do 3 or 4 hours of code and nothing else then i take a 2 hour break wathcing house, and im back coding again
3 or 4 hours? I can sit for dozens of hours and not get bored coding, except for a few bites to eat.

well it only took 4 hours to download season 2 of house
Ah. I usually just code, and try to concentrate as much as possible. Sometimes I watch some TV while I'm coding, but I find it's difficult to concentrate that way.
