I wish I could of had seen the look on those students' faces 'cause I had snuck in two or three rooms with projector screens and put that trojan on there, and I made it put a picture of some demons and a picture of some almost-naked woman during comp class. The students who's comps I had put it on were like WTF, and I heard about it in the hallway from people who were in other classes that I had installed it on, including the ones I snuck into when no one was in there. Somehow this fact never came up when the entire administration and the guys downtown were interrogating me, but they /did/ ask why all the computers in the lab had a full-screen strobelight (like my old signature) going.

When will schools ever learn that if they want better security (and want to save a [blink][sparkle]CRAPLOAD[/sparkle][/blink] of money), they should switch to Linux? I bet the economy would be so much better if everyone just said "Hell, no!" to Windows and grabbed a copy of Linux. No more viruses. No more spyware. No more spam (or at least not as much). Then we could find something way more useful to do with the money... who knows; prices might actually start getting lower - like WAY low - if we all switch to linux. Gas might go down to a dollar a gallon. That would be awesome...

If everyone did that, then so would the hackers =D . Harder to bypass, but still if they worked on it they could hack linux too.
Sure, but because Linux loves the logs, hackers could get caught faster.
nah one time i my teacher posted a hw thing online and i got into her files on the server and found all the answers so i gave them to all my friends and the next day ppl in the hallway were like dude that kid got all the answers and stuff like that and i was like yeaaa cuase that was nothing for me. and then other times ppl were just like man i don't wanna piss u off idk what you could do w/ that computer..
good times
I never saw the point in hacking. Of course, it would be fun to do it. I have had people come up to me and ask if I could Bypass the Web block for them. But I never bothered to even think about how to. My website and Cemetech.net are the only sites I goto, and there not blocked. Those and Google.

My BCIS teacher and I were really close, and she had me work on all the computers in the class room when ever they needed it. I was thinking about putting a Keylogger on her computer and making a... [dramatic]Heroic rescue and saving her computer from destruction[/dramatic]

Though I did one time hack her harddrive and get the answers to one of the big assignments, and I spread it around the class room, through computer to computer. The only verification you needed for those was to have your initials in the file name (i.e. "assignment 1.B JBD.ext"). So it was real easy to cheat. But that was one of the only times I had ever done it.

But the things she had me do, were too easy. Things like, "Oh no, the computer is not working, Ben.". And all I would have to do is walk over there and turn the monitor on....

Its sad how computer illiterate some people are.
Hopefully, most of you know right from wrong now. Getting the answers to homework is not just wrong, but you were also letting all these crack addicts cruise through high school without any effort. Bad Idea
I would never give anybody the answers. Though it would have been nearly impossible because the teachers kept their grade books on disks of various kinds and flash drives.
If only all teachers were that smart.
out school is crazy on this stuff. First security flaw, when you log into a comp, you are an Admin, so you can do anything you want on the comps. I think the only comps with any security in the OS is the MCSE comps when in 2k, but that is only because 1337 students installed and configured the OS themselves, or comps on the PUBLIC wifi network (if they have a lick of sense on what they are doing). One could probably count on their hand the number of people with removable storage on the comps. I don't think I will be storing much to the network drives (even though they are private for each person), as one, I have my own machine I can do work on without as many restrictions, and I have enough removable media to get files from one place to another. Now for booting into Linux, I think the comps are first set to boot to the First HD, then the Network, but I know a way around that (as I need to boot to the second HD all the time in MCSE). Proegssilb, care to help on how stupid the school is?

I concur. I would never even consider "hacking" (eg finding out someone's password) for any destructive purpose, particularly to cheat, even if I would fail the assignment otherwise. My integrity is too important to me.

Hmm, good point Kerm.

No; I avoid using school comps (and school infrastructure) whenever possible. I'm sure that'll change next year with my APCS class this year
My biggest two complaints:
-There is no form of student-accessable WiFi in the halls, despite the fact that infrastructure is in place for it
-You can't access a printer from what little student-accessable WiFi there is
Now, I showed you how to get on the PUBLIC Wifi in the halls, will I have to show you again or something?
At my school, we have WiFi routers in the computer centers in each of the buildings, which you can connect to from most locations in the building (well, not the basement, 1st floor, or 6th floor). Once you're logged in via MAC address authentication and school user/pass, you can use any service allowed on the computers in the labs, map any printers you want, etc.
well, what proegssilb is getting at is that student machines shouldn't be able to get on the wifi in the halls, only the cafateria area, and what they did is set up a WPA2 encyption, but the AP accept an unencrypted session. Problem is, the APs in the cafateria and one hall don't DHCP at all, and a static set up with info on other APs in the building do nothing.
