So yeah, it seems our host added a new firewall, and certain ports got blocked, namely the ones needed for SAX and the BL meter. It should all be back now.

Everything seems to be fixed, except I forgot to mention I also needed udp port 29130. Sorry about that, and thanks for the fix. The problem must have been the firewall - did it get changed recently?

I have added tcp in and out for port 29100 and upd in and out for port 28000. Does that still give you problems?

It is downloading XML and HTML files for inclusion in pages from 199.98.17.20 port 29100, an HTTP port. I had no problems at all with it until this afternoon. I also am unable to make a UDP connection to another server, port 28000, to check its status for display on my frontpage, which also worked fine until yesterday afternoon. Opening a socket causes an "unable to connect" error, while opening a raw socket returns a permission error.
Tech
what ports and where is connecting to?
It is very likely the firewall is preventing the connections.
So please give more information of what is connecting to and how.

As of this afternoon, trying to open sockets via PHP causes permission errors. This has not occured before today, and I believe it may be related to some kind of server misconfiguration. If you have disabled direct sockets for some reason, I'll have to rework some of my scripts to work differently. Thanks in advance for your help.
PS - You can see the slowdown from a socket attempting to load and failing on my site's frontpage, http://www.cemetech.net. I disabled the other areas of the site with related problems.
