Hello, All!

Another stupid question while I'm trying to get my calculator set up (now that I have a working cable)

I'm currently using TiLP to try and dump the ROM of my TI84+ CE, but I'm running into an issue communicating with it. At this point, I know that my calculator is connected (it shows up under device manager), but scanning simply results in an empty list and a message saying "done!".

(this is not my question/issue, but I can imagine it being related)

If I select any of ports 1-3, I get a "failed to open the USB device" error, so I believe it is on Port #4 (I'm sure there's a better way of determining that).

Port #4, however, gives a somewhat nastier "illegal operation or argument".

Pressing "OK" at this point:

Results in:

Quote:
Msg: illegal operation or argument.
Cause: the program which uses this library is buggy. Fire-up the developer!

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Or do I really need to file a bug report? I believe I've seen this error elsewhere, but I'm not sure where (also I loath Sourceforge)

PS: I can add any logs, I'm just not sure where those would be
What sourceforge repo. Sounds like you are using something extremely outdated.

it is,
Try this script :https://raw.githubusercontent.com/debrouxl/tilp_and_gfm/master/tilp/trunk/build/scripts/install_tilp.sh
make it executable with :

Code:
chmod +x install_tilp.sh

and run it with :

Code:
bash install_tilp.sh

or :

Code:
./install_tilp.sh

EDIT :
that's a Linux tutorial.

for windows try this executable to install a fresh copy :
https://ti-pla.net/tilpsetup
I used the TiLP (2, beta?) installer recommended here. (The link being https://ti-pla.net/tilpsetup), so my impression is that it's not outdated, but I'm not really sure.

The Sourceforge repo I was talking about was https://sourceforge.net/projects/tilp/, but on second thought it would probably make more sense to file an issue under the github repo

Sorry, still getting used to BBCode, so my reply was really slow. But yeah, this is what I used.

yeah that's probably a safe bet

EDIT : please don't double post, do what I'm doing here [by clicking the edit button on your post]
Sorry, my first comment was supposed to be a reply to Mateo. But that makes sense, will do!

Nah, you good, just make sure you don't do it. I did it too and people got mad at me when I started.

Hope you're enjoying your stay a Cemetech!
Thanks for the heads up then! Forums are a new world for me 😅

And thank you! Most everyone has been really nice so far! I just hope I don't wear people out with questions Smile
Thanks, I've replied on Github.
Update: Lionel fixed it! I just needed to install the filter driver, per the README (that I was too unobservant to notice the first time)

X-Link FFR: https://github.com/debrouxl/tilp_and_gfm/issues/36
There's room for improvement on my side, for making the information more visible Smile
