My mom insists that she wants a PDA to read ebooks on. As the family geek, I've been the one nominated to find her the right one for christmas. I don't know anything about them, though. Do you know of any cheap, low spec'd models that would display ebooks, and easily connect to a computer to send the ebooks?

And an ebook is just like a .pdf, right?
Umm... why cant she read the ebooks on her computer?

I'd suggest you browse around tigerdirect and such... look for one that has actual memory and such built in.
Sony has some ebook reader out I believe (at least I think it is Sony...)

Its a *tad* harder to "cuddle-up-with-a-nice-laptop-by-the-fire" - a PDA/ebook reader or similar is much more convenient for reading on the couch, in bed, etc...

@foamy: Pick one that can take expansion (SD slot, etc...) - thats really all you need, as ebooks aren't exactly memory or processor intensive (hell, there's an ebook reader for the PSP that runs the CPU at 1mhz, lol)
Okay, thanks, guys. When I find one, I'll post it up.
Oh, also look for as large and high-res of a screen as you can find - the resolution being the most important, especially for text. (unless your goal is to give your mom a headache as she tries to read ebooks on it so that she gives it to you Evil or Very Mad )
I was going to suggest that new Sony one; good call, Harq/.
