Because my college is moving the engineering school to a new building, my servers and desktops will be experiencing at least a week and a half of downtime, if not more. The servers affected include but are not limited to:
    CRMXen (Linux Desktop)
    Xsibhgrmz (Windows XP-64 Quadhead Desktop)
    Simms (Simms AI controller machine)
    Yourmom (Misc storage and backup)

In addition, in about a month the following servers will probably experience at least four to eight hours of downtime:
    Simms0 (Simms AI slave node)
    Simms1 (Simms AI slave node)
    Simms2 (Simms AI slave node)
    Simms3 (Simms AI slave node)
    Simms4 (Simms AI slave node)
    Simms5 (Simms AI slave node)
    Cemetech0 (backup)

Luckily, as far as I remember, none of these machines host core Cemetech services, so the website should continue to run unhindered. However, Simms will be operating either at reduced capacity or not at all, and other items may work sporadically (although I don't anticipate this being an issue). Let me know if anytihng starts failing so I can remedy it. Smile
Sad I hope nothing goes wrong with the site during the transfer
Ah, so long as the forums are still operational, then all is good. =p
true, but I hope Simms will be fine too
[sidenote] hey! I'm a power user now! Razz[/sidenote]

Indeed. On the plus side, I am helping to wire the network for the new building, and when we finish we'll have 3 100mbps pipes to the internets! \o/ I'll post pix of my new desk and my upgraded Xsibhgrmz computer I'm currently configuring (making an NVidia 9800GTX cooperate with an ATI x1950xt on the same motherboard is becoming a pain).

Why would you do this at all? It sounds like a recipe for unpleasatness.

Well, I am trying to quadhead, and I really do not like the idea of buying a whole 'nother 9800 just to get it working. I suppose I could try to find another NVidia card around somewhere to make it work.
when will this "downtime" begin?

Well, I already took Yourmom and CRMXen offline, Xsibhgrmz will be spotty until Friday, and Simms will probably go offline tomorrow. Mid-June-ish will be the boxen in that second group. Just to emphasize again, in all likelihood Cemetech will be in no way affected, I'm just warning you guys that Simms AI will be sporadically offline, and it's possible I am doing some backend stuff from here that I've forgotten about.
*bump* CRMXen and Yourmom are now offline. With just shy of 53 days of uptime, Simms (the controller node) is currently shutting down, my apologies to all those who like to chat with it. Sad
*necrobump* Scheduled downtime coming soon:

Yeah, and it's at night instead of three hours in the middle of a weekday. I hope they don't screw things up again.
Make a backup!

comicIDIOT, I'm more worried about unforeseen circumstances causing the site to still be unavailable in the morning. Smile
