So it's been a long time since I've been active here but I was talking to chris(Kerm) about some stuff I had just done to my server. Long story short we talked for a bit and then he suggested I come over here and post what I did and how since some users have there own servers running.

I decided to write it up on my own site, and figured I'd just post a link here. I know thats such a jerk thing to do haha but its just easier, rather then copying and pasting it all here.

Setting up HTTPS in Ubuntu 9.10 running Apache 2

If anyone feels this post should be placed into another section please feel free to either move it or tell me. Hope this helps some people. Feel free to offer comments or suggestions. I'm more then willing to help anyone if I can.
WOAH. Thermo's back! It's been ages man. I've done the https setup before, but it's always a pain remembering the exact steps I went through the last time.

Nice brief writeup, though the details of configuring a certificate would have been nice too.

Yeah what makes my implementation not so secure is that I guess apache comes with keys and certs of its own, so when you just use those commands it defaults to them. As I say in the write-up its in my dorm so only people on campus can see. which means i really don't need to care that much. I'm just doing it so my school can't see what exactly people are getting without to much pain.
