Or why the Internet is totally awesome and Valve is the greatest company ever.

holy sh*t.

Whole-heartedly agreed. That's f*cking sick.
For those of you who haven't been paying attention, the ending to Portal has been updated (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vq9oKn-SJCU ), new sounds were included in the update (don't know what they are yet), the filenames of the ASCII dumps are apparantly lat/longs to locations in Ohio (location of Aperture Science?), and the BBS is changing as well.
I tried reading through the (currently) 51 pages of thread at that Facepunch site; that's some pretty dedicated hacking. O_O

Actually, Facepunch auto-locks a thread when it gets to ~50 pages. The link in the OP is to the *SECOND* thread, currently the *THIRD* thread on the subject is up to 32 pages and can be found here: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=903178 (the OP there is being updated with new information)
EDIT: Oh, and the Steam Forums thread on the subject is over 460 pages long with ~7,000 replies and ~1.5 *million* views: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1168990
so, apparently, in the new ending, you get dragged away by a poorly textured box of beans:
LOL, the box of beans is a joke made by the developers. You're actually dragged away by Tim Larkin
No doubt this will provide a few more years of "hilarious" memes (unless they find some way to include a vaguely interesting game in between the silly quotes this time).

Uh, how about Portal 2 or Half Life: Episode 3 (Or Half Life 3???) - this is probably leading up to an announcement about one of the two.
Which it eventually did...
Portal 2 was announced

Has anyone figured out why the underscores spell out "drattmannh0nee" yet?
Edit: The people on the Steam forum figured it out:

I was actually just looking at that!
A 'lil more info about the Portal 2 release
over here.
I'ma look in to that drattmannh0nee
EDIT: Scratch that. Beat me to it, Kerm
I may actually become a Steam customer if they're really adding support for OS X.
why would they sacrifice directx support for an OS that only 6% use?

11% in the US and presumably they didn't "sacrifice" DirectX support, and instead added in the same sort of switch that engines like Torque have supported for ages, but even if they did say screw Direct3D, it's no real loss, since OpenGL is an equally capable API.
...and
here's confirmation. Source will now support OpenGL rendering and running natively on Mac.
Kinda makes me wonder where native Steam on other *nixes is at. Sound and video is perhaps a bit more fragmented on other platforms, but that's nothing a couple harsh decisions can't remedy (say, use just OSS and Mesa).
