I was able to browse brandonw.net just fine just days ago, but I have recently been unable to open it. Does anyone have any info on this?
I, too, am unable to access his site. Hopefully BrandonW will let us know what's up.
The mirror at http://brandonw.org/ still works.
he probably forgot to pay for it or something, or perhaps .org is the new main site
I agree that he probably just forgot to pay the bill. Smile I was disappointed to see that I couldn't access WikiTI yesterday to look something up about bcall $807E.
It's a DDoS (or.. some other type of attack?). From #wikiti last night:
Quote:
[00:30:24] < BrandonW> The database is still intact.
[00:30:39] < BrandonW> !t Test
[00:30:52] < BrandonW> Sad
[00:31:25] -!- Merth [~Shaun@c-24-34-13-226.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] has joined #wikiti
[00:31:30] < Merth> I didn't even know this was a place.
[00:32:13] < BrandonW> It has been for years.
[00:32:22] < BrandonW> And being the maintainer of WikiTI, I think I should have ops here.
[00:32:28] < Merth> Yeah
[00:32:43] < BrandonW> I was going to use it for talking about its status.
[00:32:51] < BrandonW> I may go to a VPS to prevent these kinds of attacks.
He is a busy man I guess.. writing a book on calculators and all

oh, didnt see tari's post, that sucks
Awww, that sucks, I too missed that response. Sad At least the database is intact.
This makes me wonder who would attack BrandonW's website.
Well was it a planned DDoS, or an accidental one?
I don't see how an accidental DDoS attack is possible.
if too many people go on his si.... yeah, me neither

Well, a Slashdotting would be an accidental DDoS attack, for instance. Smile

Or when facebook crashed a while ago because of a database entry that caused all bugs to become bugs when the bug-fixer attempted to fix them or something like that.

Brandonw said that he thinks it's because of the ps3jb or something like that.

It was probably Sony and TI teaming up to take him out.

I doubt it was Sony and TI taking him out, although I wouldn't disbelieve it being just Sony. Razz And yes, Merth launched a DDoS attack against Cemetech.
