I'm thinking of building a homemade arcade cabinet out of an old computer and MAME. I would probably start with the old desktop in my basement, however it only has 384mb of Ram and an old P4 processor, so I am unsure if it would be fast enough to run most roms in MAME. My brother has a machine that has good RAM and processing power(and no video card) so I could always steal that one. Anyway, I'm thinking of have two joysticks and two sets of 3 buttons, which could work as separate players, or in tandem, depending on the game. I could even have multiple emulators for different consoles if I could work out an interface in linux, from which the player could choose a game and it would automatically load the appropriate emulator and control set. I'll post some diagrams and models later. Thoughts?
