I know most of you probably don't have a TI-89 or 92 Plus (or anything similar), but Tankers 68k has been updated after quite a while. Version 6 features Single Player mode against AI, plus some multiplayer improvements.

One of the authors, Barrett Anderson, has stated that it is the final release but some posts at ticalc.org seem to hint that more features will be added.

Me too, I'm planning to get an 89 maybe for christmas.

Will regular 89s be cheaper once the titaniums come out?

I don't know. Probably. When the Voyage 200 was released (which is essentially the Titanium edition of the 92 Plus) they were the same price. But now after the V200 has spread around a bit, the 92 Plus does seem to have dropped in price.

That Tank Wars is pretty impressive. (I thought it was Zelda at first too). We could use more of these 2-Player battle games on the market. They're also doing a promising Starcraft project. Does anyone know how long it took Barret and Calcgames to do the project? Just curious.

Since before April 2002. That's the earliest post they have in their tankers forum (at their site).

I can't wait to see both of these for myself! It still amazes today me to see the cool stuff you can do on these machines. I'm considering buying a new calc just for the games!

And finally, a new TI-82 game. This site is definatly going on my bookmarks list. Pat Davidson rocks!

Really? Is that where you live? It'd be cheaper to buy off the internet: http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod...423cd3d7104e5f5

Maybe that's being measured in Canadian currency, instead of American dollars.

I got mine $120 (USD) off eBay. Smile

It looks like Tankers is already shooting its way up into the top-downloads list. Now if only there were a "Tankers Z80." Maybe somebody will port it in the near future. It would go alot faster than waiting for the price drop.

Go here and look at the first comment. It was made by Joe Pemberton, and says the following:

It looks like he's kind of joking about the Z80 version. I guess others are already planning to port it themselves. Anyway, I hope the Z80 port is link-compatible with last release. It would be quite a site to have a TI-89 battling a TI-82. Hopefully his documentation is good, otherwise it could be a whole new year before a Z80 version finally gets out. Here's what Barrett says about the 68k update...

Barrett Anderson wrote:
yesterday i changed my mind and started working on it again (for the first time in 18 months).

there will be damage for single player, but probably not multiplayer.... the only way it will happen is if i also make it so you have to get weapons (and the weapons have to be hard to get) because otherwise the kids playing the game will just get closer and closer to eachother and keep firing and it will be the same thing as one shot one kill.

right now i'm working on the map editor for all the new features, which include:
-placing the starting points
-no more "one click one tile placed". you can drag it around and it'll place the tile
-place enemies
-missile turrets

features that may or may not be in the next release:
-boat mode
-airplane mode
-more enemies (other than the tank and turret)
-more weapons
-powerups

as for the completely rotational direction.. that's possible, but from the feedback i've got from it, it wouldn't be very happy. people don't like waiting for the tank to turn.

AI will get a little better...

the actual version numbers i'm using are between 0 and 1.... michael forgot the "."
