Invision Power Board 2.0 is now out! yay! go see the new skin here: http://dragon-fire.org
to the admins: I wouldn't rush to update, as the script that converts 1.3 data (posts, members, etc.) to 2.0 isn't complete, so the board would be without the old posts for a while.

Nope not yet.

It is not tried and true, still has more bugs than 1.3, and the beta I tried was noticably buggy.

I am going to at least wait until after the logo contest vote is over and the converter is finished.

Only then will I update.

And note, I have tested the 2.0 system.

In time, we will probably convert.

I know very well, I'm a resident in the Invision Community, and follow it very closely. It's PDR 5 (Beta 5) and there won't be a converter until RC 1, where everything will be finalized and it'll all be bug fixes. Wait for RC 1, which will literally be released any day now.

It has more features than you can fricking shake a stick at. It's making other boards (like the insanely expensive vBulletin) look like garbage.
My personal favorite is the multi-quote. You can quote multiple people, even across topics and forums, in one post. It'll make sense once you try it if you don't know what I mean.

IPB 1.3 can also multi quote: copy the quote to your message, and put
Quote:
nd
around it. Put the author there if you want, and: DONE!

But i do think IPB is superior to other forums, and the new lay out looks FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!

It's a bug in the way Darth set it up. When you login at the dragon-fire.org site, it does log you in there. But, the redirect takes you to nwps.ws/~dragonfire which is then treated as a completely different board. Just login again and you'll be fine.

MissingIntellect: Multi-quoting is already possible here, but in a manual way. I'm asuming you mean that you can click a quote button on multiple posts and have it fill in the details for you? That's my only guess. BTW, that's a beutiful double post you got there, and it's great to know that you know how, but could you please use the edit button next time?

I was highlighting the fact that the Multi-Quote would make things much better. Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad
You have to admit it, the quote system in 1.x is a major pain in the arse. If you wanna quote more than one person it becomes very cumbersome. You really just have to try it to see what I mean. Just go to their site and post in the test posting forum, which is for, well, test posts--you know just messing around. Wink

He is talking about In-Line Quoting... and it is awsome.

We will not update until the full version of 2.0 is released!

However, when RC1 comes out, we will be making another website on the server without telling anybody.

We will make it work for our IPs only and make a complete copy of the current form and DB. Then we will do the update and beat the crap out of it until it works or doesn't.

Last time I tried 2.0 the PM was broken and there were a few bugs left.

When the release comes out, we will set asside a day to update. Probably even down the website by mounting it on a private domain temporarily without changing the unitedti.org records.

When done we will bring it back up!

Please not, forums.unitedti.org is another website from unitedti.org. Serriously. It has its own apache entries, configureation file...

We as in UTI staff? : )

I'm also going to wait untill 2.0's full version is released and it actually works well. Besides, 1.3 works fine, so there's no hurry.

Laughing "Full as in without a thousand bugs and with an installer." - "thousand bugs" = "Full as in without a and with an installer."

See? Perfect sense.

also, because 2.0 is easier to write mods for, i have a beta IRC mod that loads all the ipb skins, it is no longer a separate page. Still working on teh admin cp stuff for it, but it does work. you can try it at my site.
