Because we do not have a reason to change it, yet anyway, however, now we have the logo contest done and everything I might make a calc theme for the board that would somehow fit in with the logo.

If I can get my pc to boot up again that is.

It's HD's MBR is FUBAR, making it impossible to install any OS on it, and designing skins for this forum will be kind of hard in MS DOS booted from a CD.

Considering one is out of commision, I'd say he either has a second computer/laptop or he is using someone else's.

Why do you have two partitions on your family computer? Do you have two OS's on it or something?

two partitions is really handy:

p1 -for windows, and MS office and such
p2 -for your documents, and other stuff you don't want to lose. Just everything except the stuff on partition 1

Format partition 1 every few months and reinstall windows. This increases performance (adware, spyware and other shit are also deleted) and you don't lose everything because p2 is still intact.

Exactly, though I also make it so the my documents folder is put on the second partition so I won't loose that either when I format the windows partition (CSmile.

No.

Format the partition with windows on it if absolutely posetively nessecary, use Ad-Aware, Hijackthis, Spybot:S&D, and your brains to keep out spyware and such, defrag once a week in safe mode (Windows XP loves the swap file and your RAM so defrag even more if you don't have much RAM), use the Antivirus software of your preference to keep out bugs.

Or download Mandrake Linux and use that instead, if you don't mind being unable to play (good, new, 3D, commercial) games. Neutral

In my opinion, the site logo would look a lot better with a black edge (to blend in with the surroundings).

Can you access partition 2 from partition 1 though?

Depends on the OS and what filesystems the partition have been formatted as, if you partition both as FAT32 windows won't have any trouble seeing both (looks just like you have an additoinal hard drive installed) but if one of them is formatted as some strange Linux file system then windows won't even know it's there.

Ahhh... that explains a lot. What about one NTFS and one FAT32 partition? How would that work out?

Win9x won't know what's going on but NT or XP should recognize both just fine.

The TNT2 is ok, but not the M64 model with 16mb VRAM, which is the one I have. The GF2 TI is good but could be better. On second thought, they both suck rare eggs.

The only stuff I play (if I play games, which is practically never anymore, all games suck these days after playing them once, unless you buy the 10 expansion packs that where released later which makes the game playable up to three times after which it gets boring as hell) on the TNT2 system is Hitman2 (I was surprised it actually ran on it), Soldat (BEST SHOOTER EVER), Warcraft3 Frozen Throne (If I have a friend over to play on the LAN, it's very boring otherwise), multiplayer SOF2 (used to own, too many cheaters now, no servers play the good maps anymore, barely play anymore), Worms World Party (if I have a friend over and I'm too lazy to drag this comp downstairs to have fun on the LAN), and Neverwinter Nights (good game, get's old fast after finishing the campaign 5 times).

The games are only playable if set to minimum detail, and I've already played all those games to death, except Hitman2 which I've only played once or twice, so I mostly just browse some sites in the morning and stare at the screen in boredom for the rest of the day because all my friends are either working or on holiday. sigh.

The stuff I play on the GF2 TI system is Morrowind (get's old after playing for about.. 2 minutes) and Need for Speed Underground (BLINGBLING CAR LOLZ).

Try this:

fdisk /mbr

Be sure to use the FDISK that came with the version of windows you have.

Do NOT use DOS Fdisk.

If it doesn't help, you will need to go into FDISK and delete all your particians

Then go through the process of installing your OS again. Your Installer should ask you to create a partician and walk you thourgh the process. You will have to choice to state how much you want to partician off.

Instead of saying all, say something like 50% or 10gb or whatever you want.

Then come back and add your second partician taking up all the unparticianed space.

Your OS should then install.

If it doesn't you might have a dead hard disk.

In which case you can get a replacement ATA 66, 100, 133 twice the size of the 20 gb for something less than $30.

It would take you only minutes to swap the drives out and a few hours to install.

It's already been fixed, check the FAT problem topic.

FDISk /mbr didn't work, but I didn't have to reformat/create all my partitions, in fact, FDISK is so sucky it couldn't, and neither could format.

Gogo linux! If only it ran games. Laughing

Does anyone know if there going to transfer the 'online hex dissassembler' here? Because I can't seem to get into cirrus.
