when we finish this, i think we should use the sprites, and make Sonic SpinBall!

BTW, the ACTUAL sonic sprites are 16x16 Wink so we could just copy them over...

I forgot to say something,if people still want to play the origional Sonic games, you should actually download a Sega Master System emulator and download the Sonic games for that. That system came out 3 years before the Genisis so those are technically the first Sonic games.

the first one we are focusing on is 83+ion,i think thats what we are writing the engine in,but do the menu in ion.

Yeah, probably no greyscale expect for maybe storyline bits. I agree, Sonic is a pretty addicting game, so that means we have to live up to expectations that the TI-community will have!

we should try to add sound!  maybe later...  but the source for IceClimb is open!  it is a game with a penguin, and it uses a higher pitched sound for each level higher he gets...  it is kinda cool... check it out!

Ok, do not try sound.
1). Almost No one has support to listen to that so you will just waste mem, and speed.
2). You'll never be able to do it in greyscale! Greyscale is just NOT fast enough for sonic! It'll be hard to make a scrolling engine on the 83(+) that is. BTW, what calc are you making sonic for anyways?
3). Ghosting will a big problem in this game, because of the speed that sonic travels. Is your engine going to bee 4-way. or 8-way, smoothscrolling? I suggest 8-way smoothscrolling. If you need an engine, Duck of Maxcoderz has released one, and you can get it here.
4). What size sprites are you guys using?

Good luck! Smile

I've made some modifications to that sprite, and I sent it to James. He'll decide which ones to use ultimately, I guess.
