Alright. I guess it's pretty clear we don't have the CPU power to pull off that famous revolving maze Sonic Team used in the original STH. If we have enough space left, it would be cool to still have a bonus world of some kind for emeralds.

Basically we have a lot of possibilities. Something 3Dish might be possible with sprite scaling if that code isn't too large. There were also some cool 2D games in other sonic titles that involved a lot of neat pinball elements. Any suggestions?

I remember the pinball level. I always died there... that'd be awesome.

Yeah, I've thinking about the orbs. I will take me a while to figure out how to do it, but it looks doable. I guess I'll have to bug CoBB on this one.

I think the pinball is the best idea. Maybe Cobbs would be willing to help us there? Wink

Okay, definately looks like we've got some approval for pinball. If we do Spring Yard Zone, maybe we can use some pinbal objects from that level.

Pinball would be cool, but don't forget the rotating slot machine one from Sonic 3! Very Happy

So far I haven't found any routines or docs for doing a revolving tileset. At best, we could have revolving gravity, but this sounds a little disorienting (might need a background for that). We shouldn't have any problems doing a the glowing sphere stage though. Maybe add some new features to it.

Can there be like a low grav pit of some sort? You can shift your character in air, and go through loops.

Yeah, so far I've been running things at double the minimum gravity. So if we wanted, we could have moon gravity effects or even reverse the gravity like in the Death Egg Zone. There's heavy gravity too, but it's not a lot of fun. Very Happy

how about a level where the gravity gets heavier as you go farther/get more points?

Not a bad idea at all! I'm suprised I haven't seen this in previous Sonics. Loops would be affected, but everything else should work just fine.

The gumball machine was a good place to get powerups for Sonic 3. It doesn't have any rotating stuff, could you make that one? Or how 'bout the flat 3D world from Sonic CD? The one where you blow up the UFO's.

If we do the glowing spheres stage, I guess there's really no reason why we couldn't have the gumball one too. It's a really small tilemap. Heck, we'd be crazy not to try it.

Heh, I guess that much is true. I showed my buddy (biggest Sonic fan ever) some of this stuff and he's totally amped about it. You can never get enough Sonic.

...unless you get seizures but that's a whole 'nother story.

Don't worry, this isn't going to slow the project any, we're mainly just trying to get a feel for what our code & graphic requirements will be.

Maybe you could do the racing game where you try to collect the rings. Although that is kinda 2 playerish.

Edited.
