I say United TI makes a new ti-calculator. The ti-89 in going out of date, so is the ti-92 plus. The V200 was a great +++ to the 92, but it still lacked some some of it's competitors strong points, the HP 49G. I've been waiting for a new graphing handheld that has both features combined into one for years. The Dream Calculator:
1. HW2
2. AMS 2.09 (or higher)
3. RPN
4. 85 MHz
5. 240x160 pixels screen display
6. 3.5 MB Flash ROM
I've been a TI fan ever since highschool and into college where I'm majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. I've owned a ti-85, ti-83+, ti-89, ti-92 plus, and a V200. But I have a friend who owns some HP calculators and I used them on occasion. There are many strengths that tempt me as an engineer, and I've noticed the new HP 49G+ is coming out which has too many features to grasp. I propose that United TI comes back to the top of the market with a new, everlasting Graphing Handheld and whipe the HP's off their feet

Jup, or get a palmtop, which are already available with 400mhz processors, maybe even more since I'm not really up-to-date in that area. |

Well, that certainly seems like an ambitious idea. Even if anyone here came up with the design for it, how would you even begin to go about mass producing it? The problem is that United-Ti is just a group, not a company. Also, the very name of the group is based on the fact of whose calculators we use, and we wouldn't design a new one if we didn't plan on using it. |

well, I always thought that they could cram a bit more into those calcs, but that seems a bit more than necessary for a calc. I mean, the voyage 400 was crazy enough without everybody trying to create thier own calcs. Anyway, Go to DS if you wana redesign a calc. Thier the technical ones. Os's, hardware specs, processor software... all that stuff. Designing your own calc is great and all, but figuring out how to do things individually is all we can mannage at the moment. Maby in another 50 years the TI community will become the "Pi Calc" community or something, but for now it's just about impossible. |

that would be a good calculator if someone had the money and the staff of people who know how to make that sort of thing, but it would be very expensive to buy |

In your case you should get a Zire. They're only 95-90$ retail box and all. They have 320x200 res. I'm not too sure about the memory and processor, except the memory can be upgraded to 32-64MB+. They also have recharagable batteries from the factory, so you don't break the warranty by trying to make some for your calc! The speed, thats an issue though. |

there was one by casio, a few years back, it ran more like a pda with 512 mb memory, 32 bit color, 1b up grades, runs a form of windows, you could put a episode of the simpsons on too. but they don't make them anymore (the also had inter net access built in) they were the best |

That calc's $170... The TI-83 Plus Silver Edition is better and costs only $128. Color is not really that important. |

That seems more of a handheld PC rather than a graphing calculator... |
