Would it be possible to assign guests usernames automatically (such as Guest001)so that they could post and whatever without registering, and we could keep track of which person they were, and storing a random password in as a cookie? maybe under the group "guests"(sort of like Members, UTI members...) and when they actually registered they could change thier name and be moved to members.

I think that this would create a lot of unnecessary spam, especially in the off-topic forum.
I think that if someone has something important enough to post about, they should register. It only takes 10 minutes at the most to register and you only have to do it once.

By the way I am now the Moderator for the Calculator Modifications forum.

Yeah, they can still post, but they are much more limited in what they can do.

Therefore, I reccomend you validate your email address when you sign up!

As for guests, they are not allowed to post any more because they created problems in the past.

I was just wondering if assigning a username to them would be able to prevent the problems while still letting them post.
