Will there be points?  In the Mario by Sam Helad, there were only coins, which bugged me a bit.

Yeah I agree, also exiting to the menu rather than quiting would be nice but you don't even have a menu yet so...

I like the coin counter, that's a really neat feature I don't think was in any of the original Mario games.

A life and points counters would be nice additions to the HUD also.

More progress! I added bullet bills, which seem to work quite nicely. Also, Super Mario and Fire Mario do the correct jumping sprite (as in Mario puts his arm up), and they can also duck now!

The above screenshot had the effect of 160 decibels of punk rock blown in my face: stunning and entirely awesome. Is this the speed on the actual calc?

Should the Bullet Bills be able to go through pipes?

No backgrounds planned, sorry. That would require me to make a masked tilemapper, plus it would generally cut down on speed.

Woot Woot. This is getting cooler and cooler man.

Personally I'd change the mushroom sprite next to the lives counter to like a Mario face or something unless you can't get it to look right. Having Mario's face there would make it more obvious that those are intended to be lives.

How about background objects like clouds and other Mario essentials? Those can be thrown in as simple non-collide tiles. Even a basic scrollable bitmap background can be down without masking. The Hills have Eyes! :ninja:

I decided that Project M's code was getting way too messy and was heading in a direction I didn't want. So, I am starting again from scratch. Well, I actually have the old code on hand in case I want to borrow some stuff from it, plus I still have all of the graphics data.

And starting fresh isn't all bad... it can allow for things like nSpire support, or making it an APP. And yes, I think it should be an APP.

It can also let me do graphics upgrades which I rejected before, like so:

That would be the new tilemapper. Shiny, eh? Very Happy
Just for the record, the screenshot is running at 15MHz.
It goes at about 26 FPS in 6MHz, and 65 FPS in 15MHz. I don't think frame rate will be too much of an issue in this game, anyway.

More updates aren't very likely this week because of finals and junk like that.

Cool, really cool. Are you trying to release all he projects at the same time or what?

Seriously, you seem to compete only with yourself. Good luck studying and in the exams by the way.
