I have a trapezoid, with given angle measurements of 45 and 60. The short base has a length of, lets say 5. I've gotten the other two angles to be 135 and 120, and that is as far as I can go without knowing any other information. Would it be possible at all to find the height of this trapezoid? Or something else, like the length of one of the non-parallel sides?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah. You could use trig ratios (if you're in geometry), or, since the trapezoid has nice 45-45 and 30-60 angles, use the Pythagorean Thereom. I think.

I could solve it for you right now if I had a picture...

From the information you give, it's not possible to find out any of the other side lengths. However, given any other side length, or the height, everything else would follow.

For a more helpful way of thinking about this trapezoid, consider it as a 5xh rectangle (where h is the height) with a 45-45-90 triangle tacked onto one end and a 30-60-90 triangle tacked onto the other, to make it a trapezoid.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts. I knew with only 1 side you couldn't get any more. I'm taking an online class and one of the examples was this equation, but with a length of 10. They immediately started off the answer with "If the area of the rectangle is 60...", and since they didn't give us 60 as the area, noting else I thought could be found. They had an answer, but I guess that is because it is the schools and they almost always leave things out and try to make us read their minds.
