Why do topics I've read hours/days ago get to be randomly displayed as new topics, it's increadibly annoying and using the 'mark all topics as read'-function doesn't help much/often either. Neutral

For example, I just read the 'Get( And Send(' topic in the basic forum, I go here to whine about the topics appearnig as new, look for an example, and it appears as new, so I read it in case somebody (AlienCC in this case) has replied to it, but no, the entire topic is absolutely, whoop-de-diddly, identical to when I last read it and thus I post it here as an example. Neutral

And why does the same apply for posts I've made myself, one would think I've already read those. Confused

Don't ask where the sudden urge to end paragraphs with smileys came from, I don't know.

EDIT: Why doesn't this topic's title appear correctly? ('new' start's with lower case, thought the forum changed all first characters to upper case)

EDIT2: In case you where wondering, yes, this topic also appeared as new, even after 'reading' it 3+ times.

You are right... it still appears new to me.

EDIT: still does, after I've posted in it.

Um I think that's cause using the back button doesn't actually refresh the forum, it just reads the "old" version out of your temporary internet files. I think it refreshes after a certain amount of time, but I'm not sure. Try clicking the UnitedTI section of the top link instead (United-TI -> Support and Feedback -> Questions, Comments, Suggestions, and Shouts of Derision), that might work too, not sure though.

EDIT: Hmmmmm.... Guess not. It marks it as read in this sub forum, but not on the main one.. I suppose you could delete your temporary internet files each time. Very Happy Personally, I think I'll just ignore it.

Yeah, I still use the back button because I'm used to the forums at sc4ever.com. I like those layouts better. Not that this is bad, but I like frames.

I use Today's Active Topics quite often, and I've noticed that when doing 1) Refresh (to see the new posts made) 2) Clicking on a topic to read it 3) Clicking Back
I get the non-refreshed topics.

I think the reason it's still saying that it appears new is because it's telling you the newest posts in relation to the last time you logged out.

From my own experience, it seems to be somewhat of using the [back] button in the webbrowser rather then clicking on the topic links to navigate around the forum. Also it does tend to mark all the posts as read next time I log in, or such regardless of whether I have read them or not.

When you use the back button, your browser is loading the page from cache, so obviously it doesn't mark anything.

I don't use the back button, and if I do refreshing doesn't help either. (It does look like it's a cache problem though)

And I don't want to manually log off everytime I go here.

Having to type my password everytime I go here would keep my busy all day. Laughing
