Thanks, Goose! I feel silly now

But, true to my word, I added the new sprites I finished! In addition, I have also hosted an early rendition of sprites I may use for the back sprites!

...

there is a problem, however. I don't think I will actually use them, the style is totally different from my own custom sprites. it might not look good in the end, but whatever :/

In any case, I added the sprites to the topic post, but here they are again:

and the back sprites:

Here are some screens...

Original screenshot from an old version not released:

The next two are mock-ups to show what an updated version might look like:

and

of the three, the second screen is the best-looking, IMO. What do you guys think?

Screen 3 is the "classic" one, I think. But 2 and 3 both look fine IMO.

I think number three is better, because it shows the right perspective.

It's a bit hard to recognize the pokémon in 3, but it feels a lot more realistic and impressive.

:/

I hate how everyone likes 3. I personally hate it :|

I guess I could add an option to swap between the two. but I'm making no2 default Razz

The reason why I like number 3 is because, well, in number 2, the two pokemon look too square (confined to a box, which would be the sprite). In number 3, you totally lose the feeling, and the game feels like it has less limitations. I completely agree - the back image doesn't look so much like the pokemon, but I still prefer this impression

(trying to convince you to use 3!!!!)

Seriously, use 3. You would want to immerse your user in that. That helps. It looses the feeling of two random sprites, and gains a more 3d look facing the opponent.

Why would you go with 2 if everyone obviously likes 3?

(i also think two pokemon after slowbro need to be done better, to more easily recognize them.)

I SAID I WAS USING 3 AS WELL. geez.

But I'm setting two as default, cause that's my prerogative. :P

Now, I will feel more incline to add 3 if one of you guys want to touch them up a bit yourself, cause frankly I'm tired of dealing with them. :/

Mama mia, those are amazing! Are you making your own pokemon game, or what are these sprites for?

The back sprites are good, but the front sprites are amazing! The Pokemon Trading Card game also only uses "front" sprites.
I mean look at them, they are soooo good. Except when a pokemon leaves its square and part of the outline disappears =) .

they were designed with the TI83+ in mind. that's why they look so great :)

and that's why the back sprite ripoffs don't.

i played pokemon for years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and year....

but just to let you know the no3 is the technically correct way to portray the battle, also it looks like both the pokemon are attacking you, which isnt good for self confidence

just though id let a pro let you know Razz

UPDATE: finished up to Pokemon #113 Chansey and working on Tangela. More than two-thirds of the way, woohoo!

I hate this spriting so much now, but I can't possibly stop here ;_;

on to Tangela! (which I have worked on for like 2 weeks x.x)
