No problem.

App 2 is planned to be compatible with MirageOS problems, so we will see what happens when we get there.

Yes, MirageOS is an good shell. It took lots of work to do,and is very useful. I'm not saying its bad, I just think Nimbus Might be better. I never said it sucked,it just might not be as good as Nimbus. I know APP 1 doesn't support MirageOS programs, and evenif it did, I would probably still keep MirageOS handy. I give props to MirageOS and its programmersI just think Nimbus will be better. It's just my opinion, though.

yup, every single person on this whole darn earth is entitled to his/her opinion! I also feel the same way about Mirage, I had my friend change from ION to Mirage, because 1. It ran more programs, 2. More options!, and 3. It still ran his ION programs!

Nimbus is almost done.

Once the options screen is finished, it will be ready for the most part. Smile

MirageOS running Basic programs without bugs? It does reset the calculator when I use Input. Ofcourse, if I want to run basic programs, I just use the regular prompt Laughing.

But anyway, do you think NimbusOS will be a competitor for MirageOS v2?

We hope APP 2 will be competitive with MirageOS.

It definatly should be sience it will run basic, no stub asm, ion asm, and MirageOS Asm.

And if compression is part of the app(any version), like someone suggested in the fate by fire forum, it will deffinately be better.

Probably in APP 2 when we create a NimbusOS format.

Chances are, theat there will be a compression function that uses RLE to compress programs.

Only programs with pictures and redundant data will compress well.

Provided that we make compression work on the fly, users should be happy sience they will not have to decompress to run the program.

save SOME space? save lots! providing it was a good routine, but then u would have to make ur own special .8xp file compiler that takes the file, and compresses it, or it would have to be an actual .asm to 8xp... but it is Jbirk, David L., and the rest of the Dev team so, im not too worried Very Happy

It'll probably be built into APP2, so you can just upload the program, and then compress it via NimbusOS.

The compression technique would most likely be done before you send to calculator. Reason being is that while compressing you have two files. One uncompressed the other compressed. Thus this would cause problems because of the limited RAM on the ti83+.

O yea,you have a point there. Confused Couldn't you make it so it compresses the file while it's archived and then just delete the uncompessed file? Or is that kind of hard?

Yes it is possible but it would be easier to have the assembler compile then compress the program in one step.
