I've had an issue with my PC for a couple of months where it will restart when I want it to shutdown. It's not consistent however. It sometimes does this sometimes not. I actually went though a period of two weeks where no issues appeared but now recently it started again, having changed nothing hardware wise. I believe that it just may be a hardware related issue, but all my hardware works fine while I run the pc with no problems. I am hesitant to start trying to figure out what hardware issue it might be because my PC is water cooled and there is a myriad of tubing in the case and it is hard to remove anything easily. Any ideas that might cause this? Again during normal operating use there are no signs of problems.

oh, never mind then, because i had a similar issue w/ Ubuntu 9.04. After I reinstalled it, it worked fine.

Is there an option on the reinstall cd (if you still have it) to fix the OS or something like that?

I don't think it's software, but hardware related. I had the same problem on an old XP.
This looks promising.
