hey,
Ti connect is having trouble detect my calculator (Ti83+)
i actually have 2 cables connecting the calculator to the PC (i dont know if this is the problem) i have a USB->9 Pin Serial and then 9 pin serial to calculator.
The 9 pin serial is this one below:

since my computer had no 9 pin plug i had to buy a usb adapter
anyway, i installed the drivers for the usb to serial converter with the cd that came with it, and the computer detects it when i plug it in.
just downloaded the newest Ti Connect. when i search for devices it cannot find it, even though i select the correct COM port.
Also i did not have Tilp when i was doing all this, however i installed tilp to try connect it is a terrible program so i uninstalled it (and then re-installed Ti Connect)
still no luck
any solutions as how i can get my PC to detect my calculator?
ps. i also tried that USB device manager fix but there is no Ti usb driver there at all, maybe this could be the problem?

Some, if not all, USB - 9 pin serial adapters don't work with linking software, be it TI-Connect or TILP.
Either find a computer that has a usable 9-pin serial port, or find a "SilverLink" (pure USB) cable. |

ah god dammit, this is so frustrating.
will try it on my ancient PC which has a 9pin
i was going to buy a silverlink but it was more expensive than the black link, but i would happily pay that extra $20 now instead of this frustration grrr
edit:
tried to use the 9pin on my old comp and no luck |

Both TI-Connect and TILP support BlackLink.

yeah i got the black link working on the computers at uni with TI-connect
i guess 128mb ram wasnt enough to handle it on my old pc |
