I've decided I'm going to try and enter, and entirely coincidentally (before the genre was officially decided), I considered making a port of the Pokemon TCG.
So that's what I'm making, as I don't believe it's against the rules for Happybobjr and I to port the same game.

Anyways, I've finished the first 72 cards tonight, and they're attached below.

So, any thoughts, questions, suggestions? Fire away.

Actually, I've been working on them on the side since it was allowed, but I did do from Raichu to Tentacool last night. I just finished Dodrio, so that puts me at 85 right now. Then there's all the energy cards and trainer cards...

Edit: Just finished Exeggcute. 102/151

Looks good and no it isn't against the rules to be making the same game.
Here is his image, I don't know if you can see it though. If you cant I'll put it on my hosting.

So you are having 32x22 pxl sprites?
How are you making them so fast. I am talking about changing them from pictures to hex?

Do you have some kind of software to aid you in creating the sprite data?

They're actually 32x24.

Actually, I've only made them in MS Paint so far. But I did manage to whip up a nice little Axe program to read the two layers from separate pics and convert them to hex strings. It takes about 1 second to convert a card to hex, and I can have 6 cards for every 2 pics. Now to get around to assembling the databases...

Edit: I've done it! I finally finished drawing all the Pokemon's cards! I still have energy and trainer cards, but I've finished 151 cards!

Edit 2: Finished energy cards for each element, as well as a double colorless energy cards. Now for trainer cards...

Awesome! I am still confused on the process, though... You have to send black and white pictures to your calc, right? So are you sending two layers for the gray scale?

Yep, it's two layers. One pic would be the black and dark grey, and the next would be the black and light grey.

It's been 10 hours, and I think this is an important project update, so here's a double post.

I've finished drawing all of the cards I may use. I have a card for every Pokemon, and every energy and trainer card in the GB game except for Imakuni?.

What do you guys think?

I've test converted Bulbasaur and Charmander, but no. I only just finished drawing all these sprites. The conversion process will probably start tomorrow. I can only stare at MS Paint so long before I start to lose my mind.

How do you convert them onto your Calculator?
Do you save your pictures into a .8xi?

I save 6 cards between 2 .8xi's. One holds the front(black and dark grey) layer, and the second holds the back(black and light grey) layer. I can hold 5 sets of 6 cards without having to resort to hacked pics, and then I just use an Axe program to grab both layers of a card as hex strings, and paste them into my data programs.

Edit: 60/192 cards converted!

Do you mind if I use that program?

Still working on converting...

I'm also probably going to give this an interface a little more like Wizards, in so much as that you use a graphical menu to access everything, because I can't see myself completing the maps for the game in time. This will just be for the main menu, the battles I'm still planning to have look like the GBC game.

Here's a mockup of how I want the battles to look eventually:
