Well personally for a while in 2010 I think it was more active than about 2005-06. I think the amount of featured programs that year speaks for itself. However, I agree otherwise. Even now I notice some small periods where things want to slow down again. It's just way more active than in 2007-09.

Here's Cemetech for example


Notice the giant spike near the end of 2010 and how things remained as active as around 2005-06 for a few months afterward. Unfortunately it seems now it's back to 2009 levels, though (last Summer was more active there).

Omni had similar stats, but the spike started happening a few months earlier.

(EDIT: Also in this graph you can see how bad site downtimes can hurt x.x)
