United-TI and Redelf are concerned with your security, so we applied the Invision 1.3 forum updates.

In addition, we are looking into setting up PHP in safemode to allow members access to most PHP functions for their webspace without compromizing others security.

However, at this moment PHP is disabled for members webspace.
Would this include MYSQL support (for forums and such)?

Not at this time. Members websites are supposed to be subordinate sites for members to put their progrograms up for download. That is the intention of it.

However, we are generous, so we are trying to work out any PHP security issues at this time. If we succeed, you can write your own PHP scripts et cetera.

However, your quota is ~ 5 MB, so you really do not have room to run your own forum unless it is small (maybe if you write it).

In addition, there have been no provisions for setting up databases for members, but maybe in the way way distant future we might make one database for everyone to share. In which case, you would be expected to start your tables with your prefix and not mess with others tables.

In the event we do this, we would likely write a general library for everyone to use to connect to the database. This library would keep the password private and determin the origin of the php scripts that access it. In other words, if you requested a table named members, it would request archane_wizard.members or something like that. Essentiallyly it would be a shared resource.

You would not have the password or any command routines, so you would not be able to install a forum like Invision unless you wanted to modify all the database calls to work with our library. However, this would allow you to run hit counters and program download meters, track visits...

Basically, to answer the question, in the future limited MySQL support might be available for scripts you write yourself, but you will not be able to run a forum because they are too big and that is not the purpose.

The forum takes a lot of resources:

Forum Files with member uploads of Avatars & other uploads: 9.5 M
Database usage: 9.1 M

So, we have used 18.6 megabytes for our forums.

Obviously, we cannot dish up that much for everyone

Ah I see, thanks for the reply.

It is nice to see people go to all these lengths to realise all this.
