If I have a URL I've copied directly from the browser in the form:

it doesn't render correctly. You need to manually escape the parentheses in the URL. This should work without manually escaping it.
The problem here is users, who often expect to be able to put a URL in parenthesis (i.e. https://google.com) and not have to worry about the closing one. I think a reasonable resolution for this is for pasted URLs to be automatically escaped, rather than changing the URL regex.
