I found this sequence of numbers and couldn't figure out the pattern despite about half an hour of staring at the thing. What's the next number?

9, 0, 2, 6, 94, 10, 42, ?

This is the function that fits the data:

f(x) = 1869-(53077 x)/12+(234517 x^2)/60-(80717 x^3)/48+(6017 x^4)/16-(669 x^5)/16+(437 x^6)/240

f(8) = 3215, so the answer is 3215
But the answer could be anything for example I can say that the rule is the following: the first 7 numbers are 9, 0, 2, 6, 94, 10 and 42 and all the other elements are 5436

Can you give us any more background about where you got the sequence and any clues you might have as to what sort of pattern it follows?
